The Long Beach series of reels has been made by Penn for many years; it appears on
the Penn price list in 1934 (see picture). It's a work horse reel, but not much of a collector's item in my opinion.
Just your average round, black fishing reel, nothing fancy. Obviously a great fishing reel, it's still
in production today.
The Long Beach, like the DelMar, New Port, and Coronado, was named after a costal location.
The series of Long Beach reels all look the same, with the difference being line
capacity - some have wider spools than others, but the side plates and trim are common.
The last picture is from Penn Catalog Number 22, which is
thought to be from around 1960.
