The Penn SeaGate - Model 125

I would guess the date of this reel to between the late 1930's and 1960. The SeaGate does not appear on Penn's original 1934 price list, and also isn't listed in Catalog 22 (approximatly 1960).

This reel is not in great physical condition - a lot of the chrome has been lost to salt water. Several things indicate this is an older reel; the embossed picture of a fisherman on the side of the reel, and also the fact that the handle knob is wooden. The operating condition of the reel is excellent - everything still functions.

The last picture shows the handle knob; wood, not like the later plastic knobs, and more pointed on the ends, like a football and not rounded like the later platic knobs.

A bad day of fishing is much better than a good day of cutting the grass.
