No need for an offshore report, due to weather conditions and the unbelievable amounts of redfish and whiting. The whiting seem to be best on the last half of the ebb tide in the river around Ft. Clinch. Fish as deep water as the currents will allow. The redfish are best at the tip of the south jetty on the beginning of the flood tide. Use shrimp crabs & chunks of the small whiting. Spanish, blues, & the occasional Tarpon may be an extra.
Until later, good fishin'

OFFSHORE
Offshore has been very productive since our last report. We have been blessed with being able to catch menhaden in the mouth of Bell River on a regular basis for the past 2 weeks. The kingfish were hot & heavy with most half day charters having their limit with time to spare. Several fish were above average with a few over 30 lbs. on one half day trip we had a pair over 25lbs. and one 31lbs. as well as one 38lbs. Bottom fishing is on the improve as we had 3 keeper greys and 2 snaps today. Also we released an
85" sail.
INSHORE
Inshore the tarpon & sharks as well as good catches of whiting have been reported.
Until later, good fishin'

OFFSHORE
Live bait continues to be elusive. One day it's there the next, well we don't know. However, trolling skirted baits such as cigar minnows & bonita strips have been producing good catches of kingfish, bonitas, & cudas. Bottom fishing has been decent for seabass, triggers, & plenty of throwback snaps & grouper.
INSHORE
Tarpon, redfish, sharks, & whiting are still biting at the jetties & and in the inland waterways. Pogies and fresh dead shrimp are the best bait.
Until later, good fishin'

Headed out to American Beach for the first time today. Interesting place, very pleasant and you can feel the history when you pull in there.
I guess I got there about 8:30 a.m. The bite was on.....
Caught 16 whiting, good size to. It seemed everybody was catching fish. Finished up with a couple of slot reds.
Slowed up there in the end. I got gready and left and hit the bridge just before Hugenot Park and caught my biggest flounder yet at 27 inches and weighed just over 7 1/2 lbs. Man, what a fight. It broke my rod tip and I had to jump into the water for fear of losing him and threw him up on shore.
Incredible day, glad I took the day off from work....

OFFSHORE
I'm happy to report this week that there has been a major improvement in the bait situation offshore. This past week-end almost over night we were blessed with the appearance, although still widespread, with what I consider the choice offshore baits. These include Spanish sardines & cigar minnows. The best bet to load the well, has been at the channel markers and the larger structure, such as wrecks & rockpiles. Wherever you find the bait is a good place to fish. We have had our limit of kings daily along with cudas and the occasional cobia. No reports on bottom fishing.
INSHORE
Pogies on Cumberland. Tarpon and redfish are still red hot at the jetties along with plenty of sharks, ladyfish, and bluefish. Whiting are biting well in the sound as well.
Until later, good fishin'

OFFSHORE
Again this week bait seems to determine the success of an offshore trip. Greenies seem to be at the south jetties only on the flood tides. Bait at the towers and buoys are definitely a gamble and are few and far between if any. However there have been pogies on cumberland. don't forget you need a GA license to catch bait or fish in GA waters. Fishing offshore continues to produce decent catches of kingfish, cuda's, bonita, jacks, and an occassional cobia and if you're really lucky the elusive sailfish. Bottom fishing has been on and off with some reports of seabass, legal grouper, and plenty of short snapper.
INSHORE
This seems to be best bet. Using dead pogies on the bottm the tarpon have really made a good showing at the south jetties, as well as a good number of redfish. Trout are still hit and miss.
Until later, good fishin'

Offshore fishing has been sporadic at best again this week. The bait is still non existent. We've had to catch greenies at the jetties or the offshore tower and they have been very elusive. The best bet is slow trolling dead cigar minnows or rigged ballyhoo. A few kings, cudas, jacks, and the occasional cobia. With hard work and patient clients, we have managed some decent catches. Expect a lot of moving around.
Inshore has been inconsistent as well. A few trout and redfish in the inland waterways on live shrimp. Tarpon are starting to show at the jetties and a few are being caught in the river in deep holes when slack tide allows fishing.
Until later, good fishin'

Offshore fishing has been on the increase this week. That is when Mama Nature allowed us to get out. Catching live greenies at the end of the south jetties is your best bet for bait. Live bait offshore is hard to come by. Kingfish, Cudas, Jacks, and a few cobia are on the local fish havens. Inshore Capt. Jim Fussell reports catches of slot sized redfish, as well as increased numbers of trout, although most are small. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE FISHING THE LOCAL MACKEREL TOURNEY. UNTIL LATER, GOOD FISHIN'

The wind continues to play a major role in our ability to make offshore charters. We have been forced to fish the inland waters, which has been productive for small bonnethead sharks as well as some hefty dusky's, when fishing deeper holes at either slack tide. Whiting have been hit and miss. Dirty water seems to have the trout bite a no go as well. Hopefully, next weeks report will be more in tune for this time of year. UNTIL LATER, GOOD FISHING.

The Black Drum are here! The full moon this passed weekend and calm seas have produced lots of fun fishing for these big fish. We can look forward to several weeks of this popular sport. Big sea bass are still plentiful off shore and the bait fish are starting to show up. The cobia should show up soon.
We also have a non-profit organization that can provide funding for those that qualify for a free fishing trip.
